SEADEPTH

Marine navigation for offshore anglers and boat owners: bathymetry maps, drift analysis and waypoints.

Challenge
Anglers rely on precise underwater terrain data, but existing marine apps overload the map and make creating waypoints too complex.
My role
Led the full development from concept to release on the App Store and Google Play: cross-platform Flutter app, subscriptions, backend, offline charts and bathymetric data rendering.
Stack
Flutter, Firebase, RevenueCat

Context

SEADEPTH is a navigation app for offshore anglers and boat owners who rely on precise underwater terrain data. It helps them find productive fishing areas with high-resolution bathymetry maps, drift analysis and waypoint management. The client is based in the USA.

My role

I led the whole build, from a loosely defined product idea to a production release.

  • Cross-platform Flutter app with a clean, responsive interface.
  • Subscriptions through RevenueCat, including the tricky edge cases: restores, entitlements and access logic.
  • Firebase backend for data, authentication and scaling.
  • Offline mode for large, high-resolution chart datasets, so the app works far from the coast.
  • Geospatial and bathymetric data loaded and rendered efficiently, which is not trivial at this scale.
  • App Store and Google Play release, with the stores’ guidelines in mind from the first screen.

Result

SEADEPTH is live on the App Store and Google Play.

Michael did an outstanding job leading the full development of my offshore navigation app, SeaDepth, from concept through production release. What stood out most was his ability to take loosely defined product ideas and translate them into working technical solutions, navigate edge cases around subscriptions, restores and entitlement logic, maintain stability while iterating on features and preparing for App Store release, and communicate clearly throughout the process, staying responsive even during critical phases. Overall, Michael delivered a production-ready, scalable application and was a key part of getting SeaDepth live on iOS. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a developer who can manage both the technical build and the practical realities of launching an app.
