2023Health app for parents

Kids.Doc

A companion app for parents from a German paediatric brand: weekly content matched to the child's age, a library of articles on child health and a searchable archive of Q&A sessions.

Challenge
Parents need a reliable answer at the moment a question comes up, and it has to fit the exact age of their child, not a generic article.
My role
Mobile app development for iOS and Android: registration with a child profile, weekly feed by age, article library, Q&A archive with search, bookmarks and subscription screens.

Kids.Doc app: registration, weekly feed and Q&A archive

Context

Kids.Doc is an app for parents published by Kindsköpfe Media GmbH in Germany and created together with a paediatrician and a team of experts. It covers the years from a newborn to preschool age: weekly content for the child’s current stage, a handbook of paediatric articles and an archive of Q&A sessions.

The app has been on the App Store and Google Play since December 2023. According to kids-doc.de, it has more than 200,000 downloads and a 4.7 rating.

My role

I worked on this project as a mobile developer. The product idea, the medical content, the brand and the interface belong to the client and their team; my part was the app itself.

  • Registration with a child profile: the parent’s name, the child’s name and date of birth, with validation of every field.
  • Weekly feed by age. The app calculates the child’s age and shows the content for that week; the parent can move back and forward in time.
  • Article library with structured sections that open and close, reading time and a read mark.
  • Q&A archive with search, in list and grid views.
  • Bookmarks for articles and answers, so the important ones are always at hand.
  • Subscription screens and the account menu.

Result

Kids.Doc is live on the App Store and Google Play and keeps growing: the publisher has since added new sections and continues to release updates.

Kids.Doc, its content and trademarks belong to Kindsköpfe Media GmbH. The screens are shown to illustrate the development work; photos of people are blurred.
